Program Offi cer Job Description
\nOverview
\nThe United States-Sri Lanka Fulbright Commission (US-SLFC) was established
\nby anAgreement signed by the U.S. and Sri Lankan governments on November
\n17, 1952. We are an autonomous, bi-national, non-political, non-governmental
\ncommission promoting mutual understanding through academic, cultural and
\nprofessional exchanges. We also oversee Education USA which promotes study
\nin American colleges and universities.
\nWe are seeking a self-motivated and dynamic person to provide program leadership
\nin a fast-paced environment. The Program Offi cer (PO) reports to and works
\ncollaboratively with the Executive Director (ED) of the Fulbright Commission.
\nKey Responsibilities
\n\udbc0\udc4f Outreach, public relations, and online communications to promote the
\nFulbright programs and EducationUSA
\n\udbc0\udc4f Oversee Fulbright application management, reviews, interviews, and
\ncommittees for selection of grantees
\n\udbc0\udc4f Advise and support Fulbright grantees, both Americans to Sri Lanka and Sri
\nLankans to the U.S.
\n\udbc0\udc4f Liaise with Sri Lankan and U.S. higher educational institutions, government
\noffi cials, and NGOs to promote Fulbright awards and education in the USA
\n\udbc0\udc4f Evaluation and reporting to appropriate partners
\n\udbc0\udc4f Assist with alumni engagement
\nRequired and Preferred Qualifi cations
\n\udbc0\udc4f Master\u2019s degree required; experience in the U.S. education system,
\nespecially with Fulbright, preferred
\n\udbc0\udc4f At least 5 years of work experience in a relevant fi eld such as international
\neducation, public diplomacy, or international development required; program
\nmanagement in a collaborative environment preferred
\n\udbc0\udc4f Superior knowledge of the Sri Lankan education system required; advanced
\nknowledge of the U.S. education system preferred
\n\udbc0\udc4f Fluency in written and spoken English required; fl uency in Sinhala and\/or
\nTamil preferred
\n\udbc0\udc4f Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, WordPress, Google, and
\nother platforms) required; ability to regularly post on social media (Facebook,
\nInstagram, LinkedIn, X\/Twitter) preferred
\n\udbc0\udc4f Experience in cross-cultural settings required; studied, lived, or worked in
\nthe U.S. preferred
\n\udbc0\udc4f Ability to work on your own as well as in a team environment required
\n\udbc0\udc4f High ethical standards, honesty, and positive spirit required
\n\udbc0\udc4f Ability to extensively travel within Sri Lanka and occasionally outside
\nSri Lanka required
\nSalary and Terms
\nSalary commensurate with qualifi cations and experience. This initial contract will
\nbe for one year and is renewable, subject to good performance reviews.
\nTimeline
