POST OF SUPERINTENDENT
(CONTRACT BASIS)
ST. COOMBS ESTATE, TALAWAKELLE
Applications are invited from the citizens of Sri Lanka for the above post.
The Tea Research Institute of Sri Lanka is looking for a dynamic planter to work in a challenging environment with a
team of highly qualifi ed scientists to be in-charge of St. Coombs Estate and Factory located in Talawakelle to showcase
as a model tea estate.
This position is an opportunity for a suitably qualifi ed person to enhance his career and gain recognition in the Tea
Industry by working alongside the TRI scientists.
Job Description
Responsible to planning, coordinating and supervising all affairs in managing a Tea Factory, Tea Estate and Offi ce and
provide accruable information to the Management for monitoring and evaluation purpose.
Educational Qualifi cations & Experience
Having passed the G.C.E (O/L) examination in six (06) subjects in one sitting with credit passes for four (04) subjects
including language (Sinhala/Tamil), English & Mathematics
AND
Having passed three (03) subjects (other than General Paper) at the G.C.E (A/L) examination
OR
Having obtained a Certifi cate of Profi ciency in Diploma in Plantation Management not lower than the National
Vocational Qualifi cation (NVQ) Level 05, issued by a Technical/Vocational Training Institution accepted by the
Tertiary & Vocational Education Commission.
The ideal candidate should possess a minimum of three (03) years of planting experience as a Superintendent of a Tea
Estate and Factory.
Experience in Bought Leaf Factory Operations is also necessary.
Excellent interpersonal relations, team spirit and networking skills will be added qualifi cations.
Working knowledge in Sinhala, English and the ability to converse in Tamil is important.
This appointment will be on contract basis, initially for a period of 03 years and renewable annually.
Age: Preferably below 60 years
Remuneration:
Monthly all-inclusive package of approximately Rs. 150,000/-
The selected candidate will be provided with additional facilities applicable to this position as stipulated by the TRI.

certifi cates issued by the Department of Examinations, other relevant Educational Certifi cates and other
Professional Qualifi cations, Service Certifi cates and the Names and Addresses of two Non-Related Referees
who would be able to assess the applicant’s skills and knowledge in the relevant fi eld should be submitted.
